A College Graduate that has wanted very much to be a writer...and is now writing (lord help us all).
Finishing up my first draft, working title, "What is a Soul"...might change that title though, we'll see.
I enjoy reading a rich book, that mixes in some facts, real locations and such, Easter eggs if you will, Easter eggs that exist and you can find if you're interested to go looking.
An excerpt from my current work in progress (First Draft). Introducing Miyamoto, one of the main characters.
Miyamoto sipped his sweet green tea. The infused ginger flavor combined with the honey and lemon was divine. With its fragrant jasmine smell and the warmth of the cup in his hands, it took him back to the days of his youth, a time and location well away from here.
The sunset for the evening was painting the sky in vivid reds and oranges giving the world a most dreamlike look. Looking at the mirrored reflection inside his cup of tea, he breathed in deeply, prolonging his intake of air as to breath in this very moment of life. The prolonged silent exhale blew across the tea's surface, breaking its tension, causing ripples to bounce around inside the cup changing the serene nature it had just shown. Miyamoto knew it was an omen of what was to come, but did wish to ponder that now. Taking another drink of his tea, he turned to look back across the street at the young man who had attracted his attention.
Of course this is what I call a rough draft, the first pass and will be polished up once I finish the work.
A great story can affect your thoughts, your consciousness and your morality, which can alter our perceptions of the world and those around us. It can improve not just our lives, but the lives of the people around us by helping to make our interactions better. Maybe you’ve heard this before, and I can tell you that it’s true. The more you read, the more you learn. Reading can help you to become more temperate and through reading you will receive gifts you may never have known. I know that I have been educated, enlightened and made a better person just by reading books. Knowing this is where my passion to write comes from. I hope you are reading a book today and if not, you start reading them soon. I truly hope you get bitten by the reading bug.
Giving. I've always been guilty of giving that person on the corner, or in the median of the road cash. Tipping my wait staff extra, my uber drivers extra, even when I didn't really have the money to be backing such things. I've also been guilty of helping others when they're doing something, be it at work or offsite at all times and hours. Yes, I've helped a person or two, calling me at 2AM in the morning because they desperately can't print something they've been working on and need to get out, never expecting anything in return, just hopeful that I'm leading by example and others will catch on. I do these things because I believe we should all be givers. Helping each other in any way we can, supporting one another and not fighting, not hurting and definitely not judging one another.
Look what we're doing to our environment? I wish I could help people to understand that we only have one earth. Help them realize that for all our great understanding of science and technology, there are some things we just can't undo or recover from once they get to a certain point? Besides helping our neighbors, giving love instead of hate, we really need to be taking care of our planet and doing everything we can to insure our children and their children can have lives of love and peace. I really do not want to see the world reach that apocalyptical storyline where all the resources are gone and great wars are fought for a doomed survival for the few who manage to make it through, regardless of how awesome Suzanne Collins Hunger Games series are (they are really awesome)..just don't want to see any of us actually living like that.
